75 Years of Driving Excellence – Where Quality Meets Innovation
It was with great joy, pride and gratitude that we welcomed some of our valued customers and distributors from the DACH region to our headquarters in Eching near Munich end of October as part of our 75th anniversary celebrations. This celebration not only marks a significant milestone for us as a company, but is also an expression of our appreciation to the partners who make our continued success possible.
Our day began with a warm welcome from David Richter, Sales Manager DACH, and Joep Barendse, Senior Regional Manager for Western Europe & Export. A captivating presentation by our OE experts offered insights into current and future developments in thermal management, a key topic for the mobility of the future.
Air conditioning systems of the future - Sophisticated thermal management
In his presentation ‘E-mobility, refrigerants, thermal management - Quo vadis, air conditioning of the future?’, Werner Hünemörder, Senior Technical Manager Advanced Systems R&D at DENSO, shed light on how DENSO is designing air conditioning systems for the next generation of vehicles.
He emphasised the importance of holistic heat management, especially for electric vehicles. As the heat available in the vehicle is limited, the most efficient distribution and utilisation of this resource is becoming a key challenge. A thermal management system in electrified vehicles is significantly more complex than in conventional drive systems, as it has to fulfil various requirements at the same time: ensuring thermal ‘comfort’ for passengers, protecting the battery and the electrical components and using the heat available in the vehicle with as little energy input as possible.
The guests from the aftermarket learnt that thermal management systems consist of a combination of refrigerant and coolant circuits and require sophisticated development processes, tests and test procedures. Our OE expert pointed out that there is no one-size-fits-all solution - rather, each system is a customised compromise that balances factors such as cost, functionality, efficiency and ease of maintenance. Priorities can vary depending on the vehicle concept and area of application.
Tour in the DENSO Climate Competence Centre
Climate chamber, wind tunnel, acoustics laboratory, etc. - the subsequent tour of the DENSO Climate Competence Centre was particularly impressive for our guests. Jan-Martin von Pozniak, Senior Technical Manager Thermal Performance Development at DENSO, explained what goes on in DENSO's Climate Competence Centre in Eching with its state-of-the-art testing facilities with an exciting look behind the scenes. This is where DENSO's air conditioning components undergo the toughest quality tests. Our guests were given exclusive insights into our acoustic chambers, wind tunnels and workshop areas and were able to experience first-hand how we drive technology and innovation forward.
Automotive passion and a culinary finale
After a joint lunch break, the afternoon was all about automotive passion. BMW Welt München took us on a tour of the BMW Group Classic Centre with its unique collection of historic vehicles. The final stop was MOTORWORLD Munich - a meeting place for driving culture, lifestyle and much more. There we had the pleasure of seeing a racing car sponsored by DENSO and rounded off the day in the WACA restaurant, where Japanese-Peruvian cuisine rounded off our anniversary celebrations perfectly.
We would like to thank everyone involved for this unforgettable day and look forward to continuing our successful collaboration!
