DENSO customers revel in the success of the Central European Rally
DENSO entertained its customers from 13 countries at the first ever Central European Rally, as the winners of a sales campaign conceived by the company’s Central IAM Sales Team. Unusually, the event, round 12, and the penultimate rally in the 2023 WRC calendar, was a cross-border affair, taking place in the Czech Republic, Germany and Austria, and making it a truly multi-cultural motorsport extravaganza.
The Toyota GAZOO Racing (TGR) team, which is sponsored by DENSO, entered the rally in the knowledge that only Rovanperä or his team-mate Elfyn Evans could become this year’s driver’s champion. With 31 points between them, Rovanperä had to avoid being outscored by Evans to ensure he’d grasp the title with a round to spare, a feat he achieved by bring home his Toyota GR Yaris Rally1 Hybrid in second place at the climax of the event.
After capturing the manufacturers’ crown at the previous round in Chile, the championship winning Toyota and several of the drivers were the centre of attention, as several of the invited guests enjoyed a tour of the facilities and then dinner, with the TGR team at the Passau service park, midway through the rally.
In common with the other rounds of the WRC, the Central European Rally was a gruelling event for man and machine, but for DENSO’s invited guests, it was an event they clearly enjoyed as many expressed how impressed they were and that how much they appreciated the experience.
“The TGR team did a great job and really looked after us, so we thank them all for their help in organising everything and for their hospitality. We naturally wish them and newly crowned champion Kalle, the very best for the final round in Japan,” said DENSO Aftermarket Central European team.
